2. In a multi span building, it can be made into a large double slope roof with a ridge, creating conditions for long slope drainage. The middle column can reduce the span of the beam, thus reducing the cost. The middle column is a hinged swing column made of steel pipes, which takes up less space.
3. The lateral stiffness of the rigid frame is guaranteed by the support of purlins, which eliminates the longitudinal rigid members and reduces the flange width.
4. The rigid frame can adopt variable section, and the section is proportional to the bending moment; When changing the section, the height and thickness of the web and the width of the flange can be changed as required to make the best use of the materials.
5. The web of the rigid frame can be designed according to the effective width, that is, part of the web is allowed to lose stability, and its post buckling strength can be used.
6. The vertical load is usually the design control load, but when the wind load is large or the building is high, the role of wind load should not be ignored. In portal frame with light roof, seismic action generally does not play a controlling role.
7. The support can be made lighter. The tensioned round steel can be used to connect it to the web plate directly or with a horizontal gusset plate.
8. All structural members can be made in the factory, with a high degree of industrialization. The component units can be divided according to the transportation conditions. The units are connected by bolts on the site, which is convenient and fast for installation and small for civil construction.
